Hungarian Folk Tales

A translated collection of Hungarian folk stories brought to readers through cultural collaboration.

About The Book

Hungarian Folk Tales is a translation of stories from Hungary that arrived in Delhi through cultural exchange. The book was released at the Hungarian Cultural Centre and introduced Hindi readers to the charm of Eastern European folklore.

Translation with cultural care

The translation was produced from Hungarian and the book’s introduction was written by Dr. Köves Margit, a leading teacher of Hungarian at Delhi University. The cover art was painted by Rozália Hummel, a close artist friend of the author.

The book contains ten stories, including the tale of the royal market in Buda where a poor farmer wins a surprising reward. These stories carry moral lessons, human warmth and the gentle wisdom of folk tradition.

"A folk tale is not only a story; it is a mirror of the people who tell it, and a map of the values they carry through time."

This edition celebrates the connection of two cultures through translation, art and shared storytelling.
